Our "Remission Slip"

Okay play-at-home viewers...IT'S OFFICIAL!!!! I'm really, truly in remission. I have a letter that says so & everything!

To catch you up -- I was first diagnosed with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy in 2003. I have had 6 major (open spinal cord) surgeries and about 40 "minor" surgeries in that time period. I have been on every opioid drug known to mankind, sometimes all at once. I have gone through months of gaining 30 lbs, due to steroids, and then losing 30 lbs, due to nausea. I have lost about 50% of my hair, and it grew back very different than it was before.

But: I have not been on drug therapy since February of 2007, and have had my implants (nerve stimulators placed in my spinal cord) OFF since May of 2008.

Today, we received an "update" letter from my specialist for the homestudy. I anticipated this letter would say I was "stable" and my health condition "is not expected to effect her ability to parent an infant child." However, the letter says "HER SYMPTOMS HAVE GONE INTO REMISSION AS OF MAY, 2008." did you hear that, I'll type it again, REMISSION.
REMISSION.
REMISSION.
REMISSION.
REMISSION.
REMISSION.
REMISSION.
REMISSION.
REMISSION.
REMISSION.
REMISSION.
REMISSION.
REMISSION.
REMISSION.
REMISSION.
REMISSION.
I never though a single word could sound so sweet.

Now, I am fully prepared to be "out" of this blissful state of Remission at any point in time. But I'm going to very much enjoy it while it lasts!!!!!
